Taming the Tiger,

Eleanor

When my boss sends me to Siberia to write a story about bad boy billionaire Alexei Vasiliev’s crusade to help endangered tigers, the last thing I expect is to end up in his bed. Once I’m there, I never want to leave but, with both of us harboring secrets, can our blossoming relationship ever work?

Alexei.

The moment Eleanor Hughes appears at my home, looking like a frumpy schoolteacher, I know I have to have her. Though she doesn’t seem my type, I’m drawn to her in a way I’ve never experienced before. But, behind my public persona, lies a dark secret. I come from a long line of tiger shifters. I’ve never trusted a woman enough to share my life with her. But, perhaps, Eleanor just might be the one.

Eleanor is sent, ostensibly to write a story about bad boy billionaire Alexei’s tiger conservation project. However, she’s realty there to get the scoop on why his mother, a famous socialite, suddenly left Moscow. When Eleanor and Alexei meet, he feels an instant attraction to her. She rebuffs him at first but, soon, his charms start to work on her. After spending a day together, they finally give in to their mutual desire. But then Alexei catches Eleanor snooping around the house where his mother is staying and gets mad. When his secret is revealed, Eleanor has to decide whether she likes him enough to take a chance on this cocky tiger shifter.

Excerpt

As soon as I’m ready, I creep out of the room, and sneak downstairs. Pavel’s warning against snooping chimes in my ears, but I ignore it. By now, he and everyone else in the house, is sure to be asleep. The front doors are locked, when I try them, and I’ve no idea how else to get out of the house. I walk along one corridor, after another, looking for an alternative exit. This place really is huge. I might not be able to find my way back to my room.

As I peer into what seems to be a smaller, more intimate dining room than the one where I ate with Alexei, a voice from behind makes me jump out of my skin. “Going somewhere, kotonyok?”

I spin around and my jaw drops. Alexei is standing behind me, stark naked. He’s intimidating in clothes, but like this, he’s downright scary. His body is more muscular than I realized. For a billionaire playboy investment guru, he’s pretty bulky. In the half-light of the corridor, it doesn’t look as if he’s got any ink, but there’s an interesting scar just above his hip bone. Now that my eyes have reached his hips, I can’t prevent them from glancing a little lower. I almost whistle in appreciation at what I find between his legs. The man is big all over. Realizing that I’m staring, I shake my head to clear away the libidinous thoughts that are floating through it.

“I…eh…I was looking for the kitchen.” I wave a hand in front of my throat. “Thirsty. I…What are you doing up?”

“I went for a run.”

“A run? In the nude?” His response is an indolent shrug. “In Siberia?”

“I was born here. I’m used to it.”

Interview:

Q: What book/movie was your “gateway drug” into paranormal romance?

All the old Hammer Horror movies got me hooked on vampire stories, but the one that got me into romance was Bran Stoker’s Dracula. I hated that he didn’t get the girl in the end.

Q: Which do you prefer, and why? Vampires, shifters, witches, or ghosts?

I love shifters. I feel like they can be really dominant and a little bit asshole-ish and get away with it. That said I do love vampires, witches and ghosts, too.

Q: What was your favorite part about writing this story for Cocky Alpha Shifters?

I liked that I went in a different direction than I usually do. Most of my books are quite heavy on spanking. This story was lighter. There was more banter between the main characters.

Q: If you could interview your main character from this story, what would you ask them, and how do you think they would answer?

When you were a child, did you pull little girls’ hair in the playground?

Alexei (smirking). Yes, I did, and they loved it.

If you could change one thing about Alexei, what would it be?

Eleanor – Not a thing, he’s perfect as he is (waits until he’s out of earshot) – actually, I’d make him a bit more humble. The man is insufferably sure of himself.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about short stories as a reader?

I like that you can read them in one sitting and get a glimpse into another world for a little while. I also love that they can introduce you to writers you’ve never come across before.

Q: What was your preferred music/sound track for this story (assuming you have one).

I don’t have preferred music or a soundtrack for the story but, if Alexei had a theme tune, it would be Sexy and I Know it by LMFAO

Q: What’s coming next for your readers?

Well, I’ll have a short story in another Shifters Unleashed Anthology, Shift Happens, coming out later in the year. I’m also working on completing my Claimed Mates series of wolf-shifter stories.

Immortal Legacies
A Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Vampire Anthology

Mist Chances by Lulu M. Sylvian

It all started with a party. It uncovered a secret. It ended a curse.

Willa doesn’t like driving through the fog, even if there is promise of an epic party at the end of it. What she finds is a mysterious castle and a gut feeling that things just aren’t right.

She’s in the wrong place at the wrong time, and ends up as the igniting spark of a battle between vampires. With the help of the Red Knight and the angel in white she escapes with her life and her memories.

But she’s the only person who remembers anything. Even the castle is gone. That doesn’t stop Willa. She is determined to uncover the secret she knows is lurking on the other side of the mist, and find the two men she cannot live without.

This tale is the bastard love child of the Lotus Eaters and Brigadoon blended with true crime-cold cases and vampires.

Interview with Lulu M. Sylvian

Bio-engineered to be the only redhead in a generation of blonds, Lulu feels that “aliens” may actually be the best answer for a lifetime of being asked, “Where did you get that red hair from?”
Lulu cannot ride a horse, hula hoop, or play roller derby, but she can make pictures. Encouraged to make those pictures out of words Lulu began writing just to see what would happen, and words happened, so many words. She writes sexy hot paranormal and ridiculous contemporary romances. She embraces the crazy that comes with that one little genetic mutation, and attempts to live up to the reputation of being a redhead.

Q: How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve had movies in my head my entire life. I never thought I would find a way to get them out. During a lull in my employment, I decided to see if I could get the movie out of my head and onto paper. That was in 2014. I honestly never expected to be a writer.

Q: What currently compels you to write?
Sometimes I think it’s just to get my characters to be happy. They can become quite distracting. Other times it’s my creative outlet. I’m always creating, be it crafty time, or sewing, or writing.

Q: Where do your characters come from?
They burst into the scene, demand my attention, and then make themselves comfortable until I tell their story.

Q: Who is a favorite character that you’ve written?
My two favorites are Dante and Gage. They are from different series Legaum and Wolves of Wet Waterfalls. Both are wolves. Dante is a wolf-shifter (can change at will), Gage is a werewolf (he has to change with the moon), but they are different as can be. Dante is a bit of a wild child, libertine, while Gage is Mr. Responcibility, man-in-a-uniform. It could be that they both have curly dark hair.

Q: What’s the one question you always like when people ask authors?
I’m a sucker for the character questions. Mine sometimes feel real enough to be tangible. or at least a very good version of an imaginary friend.

Q: What’s coming next for your readers?
It’s the winter holiday season, and for my readers that means Christmas Strippers! This year I’ve collected all the shorts from the past few years and packed them into a new collection along with the older release, Unwrapped, and a never before published short. This year’s collection is called 10 Things I Hate About Yule.

Excerpt from Mist Chances

“You’re kidding me?” she laughed. “You want to run away because two hotties are interested in you? You should be throwing yourself at them. Come on Willa. This is ridiculous. It’s a party, relax.”

Relax? Relax? She needed to look around this place. Something was seriously off, in a human trafficking kind of way, in a ‘we will never see our parents again’ kind of way, off. We did not belong at exclusive parties. I did not get hit on by the walking gorgeous. I cast my gaze around nervously trying to find an example I could show her that couldn’t be possibly right.

I wanted to show her the bartender, with their ethereal beauty, and I wanted to show her all the people around us dancing and having a good time. And maybe she was right. Maybe I was overreacting. But I couldn’t relax. I couldn’t enjoy myself.

I turned around and I saw my Red Knight and Angel stalking toward me. I should have been thrilled but I was relatively terrified. Why were these two men so interested in me?

“My little lamb? I thought we had lost you,” the Red Knight purred. How could he be so seductive while all he did was stand there and look and smell good? And his voice, what was that accent?

Ellie grabbed my arm. “Is this what you were so afraid of? Oh my God. Go get it girl.” She shoved me in the back and pushed me straight into the Red Knight’s arms.

“Now this is more like it,” he said. “I appreciate your, what you call it, wingman’s enthusiasm.”

Blood and Bones by Ariel Dawn

Some bonds are stronger than blood.

When eighteen-year-old Ava and her boyfriend attend a party on campus, things turn from fun to deadly rather quickly. As Ava bleeds out on the concrete floor, the angel of death comes…only he’s not an angel. And he isn’t quite dead either.

Cassius Aurelia finds a young college student fighting for her life on the floor of a frat house basement, and he can’t turn away. His bite will save her life, but it will also bring forth a litany of consequences for the both of them that neither may be ready for.

Blood & Bones is actually a prequel to In The Blood, which part of the Forevermore Series. It is the first book in the spinoff series, Ava Crowley, Vampire Slayer.

Interview with Ariel Dawn

I grew up an avid reader and daydreamer. As a creative soul, I enjoy many forms of expression aside from writing. I am a photographer, an artist, a cosplayer, a gamer, a foodie and a self-professed geek. When I’m not at a convention in cosplay, writing love stories, or editing photos; I can often be found reading with a cup of tea, running my Instagram Wrong Turn Romance, entertaining friends and family with great food, and playing video games or board games with my retro gamer husband.

Q: How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I started writing last year during the pandemic. I released my first short story in April of 2020, and then signed up for an anthology and wrote my first book, and it has been a wild roller coaster ride ever since… I initially wrote my first short story with the intent that if it was the only thing I ever published, I’d be happy. Then I wrote In The Cards, and In The Blood, and a year later I have six published titles and at least 3 series, plus a co-written series and there’s so much more to come.

Q: What currently compels you to write?
My characters probably. They don’t shut up until I write their story, honestly. But mostly, I think a lot of my writing is propelled by the fact that I’ve always been a creative person, and I’ve ALWAYS written stories; I just never shared those stories with anyone until last year. The support and success I have had definitely fuels me to keep going. Readers who love my stories definitely helps keep me going, and the support from them, my family, friends and author friends I’ve met help too.

Q: Where do your characters come from?
I have no idea. They just sort of emerge, and I feel like I know them. Their inner desires, their quirks, their flaws. I’m definitely inspired by the stories I’ve loved, the media I grew up with, and the stories I want to read. I grew up with heroines like Buffy and Xena, and that definitely influences my writing and characters as well. I also like to flip tropes and character expectations, so a lot of times I think about a character and how I can flip the trope.

Q: Who is a favorite character that you’ve written?
Ava Crowley & Cassius Aurelia from the Forevermore Series/ Ava Crowley, Vampire Slayer Seriesare my top favorites, because they are both so genuine in who they are, and their relationship is so much fun to write. Cas is not this typical vampire, and I just love him and all his flaws, his personality. Ava is such a badass, tough and resilient with a great sense of humor, but she isn’t perfect. She messes up constantly, is headstrong, and has flaws of her own- and she owns that.

After Ava & Cas, I’d have to say Jade Hollow & Ranger Woods from the Shifters Of Starfall Creek Series with Quell T. Fox are favorites as far as attachment. Jade is similar to Ava, but she’s more…aggressive and feisty than Ava. She knows what she wants, and she doesn’t let anyone or anything stand in her way, and even in the face of adversity she stands her ground. She’s also not perfect, and sometimes she causes fires when she shouldn’t, but she grows from that throughout the series, and I LOVE writing that journey. Seeing where she started and where she ends up. Ranger is the first male I’ve written who *spoiler alert* isn’t straight, and his attitude and personality are so much fun. He’s a reader favorite, and one of my favorite characters I’ve ever written.

Eden Boracelli from the Forevermore Series is also a favorite of mine I’ve written because she’s an amazing villain who you hate, but also understand.

Q: What’s the one question you always like when people ask authors? And please answer.
I don’t have an answer for that! I love all the questions!!

Excerpt from Shade Games Francis

Amber leaned over and hit the button on her phone to end the call quickly as another turn raced up to meet her. Her phone beeped three times, and she glanced over at the screen for a second. When her eyes returned to the road, her heart leapt into her throat and her foot slammed on the brakes. A person in all black stood in the middle of the fucking road!

Her back end kicked out to the right, and before she could correct her car, she was falling down a cliff. Her grip tightened on the steering wheel as the rush of adrenaline raced through her blood and a scream burst past her lips. The seatbelt bit into her flesh as the airbags popped all around her when the roof hit the ground hard. But it wasn’t over as it flipped again, going down the cliff backward. Another flip shattered her front window, the glass cutting up the airbags. Panic surged through Amber’s blood as she continued down the side of the mountain.

The back end slammed into the side of a tree and glass shattered all around her, cutting at her face and arms. I’m going to die! She wanted to scurry away, but her muscles were all seized up. The car slowly shifted against the huge tree. Metal groaned, and she turned to see the same man in all black at her door.
“How?” she asked as he yanked off the car door, tossing it down the rest of the way to the ground. He broke her seatbelt and yanked her out with ease as the car tried to snatch her away. She wrapped her arms around the male’s neck and clung to him. “Thank you.”

Immortal Legacies: Author Interview with Gemma Cates

Immortal Legacies
A Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Vampire Anthology

Dare the Devilish Vampire by Gemma Cates

A monster hunter who’d rather be a mom.

Maddie

Hunting, capturing, and killing the creatures of the night. As a Van Helsing, that should be my calling. But my deepest desire is to have a child of my own.
I can’t leave the life, because I don’t know any other way to exist. And if I gathered my courage and tried? My family would never let me leave.
I can’t raise a child in the midst of all this violence.
It’s a vicious cycle, and I see no way out.
I’m trapped by the blood that runs through my veins and the training I can’t ever forget. I can never have what my heart yearns for.

A vampire who’s turned his back on humanity.

Luke

For centuries, humans have provided me with blood and sex, no more.
Until I’m mated with a human.
A Van Helsing.
My one chance to build a family, and Fate paired me with the offspring of a genocidal clan.
Not so long ago, the Van Helsings hunted my kind, murdering all in their path whether we sipped or gorged on our prey.
The Van Helsing clan staked my maker. Not so great a loss as the friends who also fell to their blades.
And I was expected to mate with the spawn of these murderers or have my line die out.
An almost impossible choice.

A reluctant monster-hunting human and a human-hating vampire are matched by Fate. Their only shared desire a child. Can they overcome the past to discover a deeper bond?

Interview with Gemma Cates

Gemma Cates writes flirty vampire and shifter romances with plenty of the steamy stuff and a solid dash of humor. If you’re looking for hot paranormal fun and laughter, she’s happy to oblige.

When Gemma’s not cooking up new happily-ever-afters for her fanged and clawed heroes and heroines, she might be writing books in other, sweeter genres. (She’ll never tell.)

Check out her Almost Human Vampire Romances, Dragon Shifters Do It, and Van Helsing Sisters Adventures.

Q: How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve been writing fiction professionally for about seven years and as Gemma Cates for about a year. I’ve always been an avid reader, but writing my own stories is even better than reading! (Most of the time…)

Q: What currently compels you to write?
So many stories waiting in the queue! So, so many!

Q: Where do your characters come from?
I take a slice of a person’s character (fictional or real) and then I expand on that using research and personal experience to create a completely fictional character. Building people from the ground up is definitely one of the fun parts of writing.

Q: Who is a favorite character that you’ve written?
My favorite character is almost always the one I’m writing right now. That happens to be a nerdy hot dragon who’s fallen for a writer in my Dragons Do It Nerdier book.

Q: What’s the one question you always like when people ask authors?
I always love to hear about other author’s writing processes, especially if they have tricks for gaming their motivation. I like to run writing sprints with friends, change up my writing location, and chart my progress on projects.

Excerpt from Dare the Devilish Vampire

I walked into the coffee shop and scanned the small number of patrons. No way Tyler-no-last-name was one of these normals. Most of them were like me, just here to work, except they were toiling away on a laptop instead of meeting a client.

The scent of baked goods lured me to the counter after I claimed my favorite table at the back. Carbs and caffeine with a healthy dose of fat and sugar added in would go a long way to righting my off-kilter mood.
As I waited in line behind a plain black coffee drinker, I heard the jangle of the shop door’s bells.
It was instinct to clock the comings and goings of those around me. To be cognizant of the dangers that lurked in every corner, under every bed, behind every door.

Life as a monster hunter was filled with knowledge that occasionally weighed a little too heavily, and the daylight hours were usually my reprieve. The monsters I hunted almost exclusively clung to the darkness, where they could prey out of sight from the mainstream view of humanity.
Almost exclusively.

Accompanying the sound of those bells was a distinct prickle of awareness. One that warned I’d been joined in this small coffee shop by something “other.”

I shifted slightly, just enough to catch the newest addition in my peripheral vision.
After a pause, he—because the creature who’d entered the shop was in all ways masculine—walked to the counter to stand in line behind me.

As I ordered and paid for my espresso with half-and-half and my iced sugar cookie, I could feel his eyes on me.

There was a monster in line behind me, and he was checking out my ass.
I was also pretty sure he was my client.

The Ghost of Morley Manor by Tricia Schneider ~ A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve Author Spotlight Interview

Blurb:

Only then will he reveal the location of the hidden jewels. Alice agrees not knowing when the time comes, she must decide between saving her home or saving the soul of the charming ghost who haunts Morley Manor.

Excerpt:

A scream tore into the night, a high-pitched, frightening sound that sent shivers coursing down my spine. I scrambled back against the headboard of my bed, gripping my candlestick and gasping for breath. As I struggled to breathe, I realized those were my chilling screams.
I stopped screaming and faced the man, raising my candlestick in front of me like a shield.
“Come no closer, demon!”
“You can hear me?” A look of wonder passed over his handsome face. His eyes widened. “You can see me?”
“Of course, I can!”
“But how?” The man glanced around the room as if searching for the answer. “How can this be? No one alive has seen me for over two hundred years!”
“Begone from my chamber!” I shouted and my voice trembled with fear. “Leave me in peace!”
“This makes no sense at all.” He continued his dialogue, ignoring my rising panic. He stood and began pacing at the end of the bed. My eyes widened as I witnessed him walk through the edge of the bed a time or two as he was so absorbed in his thoughts, he failed to see in which direction he walked.
“You had no awareness of me before you left this night. What changed?” He lifted his head and turned to face me. “What did you do when you left Morley tonight? What happened to you?”
“I—I—”
My stammering annoyed him. He leaned over the bed, resting his fisted hands against my feet. I could feel his weight as he leaned onto the mattress.
“Tell me, woman! I must know!”
I whimpered and struggled away from him, trying to meld myself into the headboard. I glanced over his shoulder, judging the distance between myself and the door, wondering if I was fast enough to run by him. Wondering if I was brave enough to try.
“Ah,” the specter said, for I knew he was no mere man. He was a ghost, a demon, a creature not of this world, for whom on this plane of existence could pass through solid objects.
“I see I’ve startled you.” He stood and raised outstretched hands before him as if he placated a frightened animal. “I will not harm you. I cannot. I have no mortal flesh. I cannot touch you.
Observe…”
He reached toward me, placing his icy fingers on the hand holding the candlestick. I say icy fingers because I felt the press of them firmly against my skin, a solid enough touch for a specter.
He gasped.
I looked to his face and if I were not so full of fright, I might have found amusement to witness the color drain from his face. Did ghosts grow pale as humans when in a state of bewilderment?
He stumbled back, staring at his hand.
“What sorcery is this?” He whispered. “What did you do this night?”
“I… I…” I licked my suddenly dry lips so I could speak. “I attempted to summon the spirit of Sir Nicholas Weatherby.” I might as well be truthful while speaking with a ghost. After all, how could he condemn me when he, himself, was dead?
“Sir Nicholas Weatherby?” he repeated, his eyes wide. “I am Nicholas Weatherby.”

I’ve been writing for about twenty-five years since I was 15 years old, but I’ve only been a published author for the last ten years. I began writing for fun. I was a kid looking to entertain myself. My brother and I used to create our own newspaper and forced our family members to subscribe. We’d include outlandish articles which now kind of reminds me of The Onion! As a kid, I also wrote a series of short stories about my brother’s pet turtle called, The Adventures of Gonzo the Turtle. That turtle was quite a hero, saving the forest and the lives of the other animals.

Tell us about your title featured in: A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve
I’ve been a fan of gothic romance since I was a kid watching Dark Shadows re-runs with my mom. It was one of her favorite shows and has influenced a lot of my writing. In my twenties, I discovered Jane Erye, Rebecca and a long list of Victoria Holt novels. The Ghost of Morley Manor is a gothic romance featuring a penniless heroine who is desperate to find a way to keep her home and her brother safe. She resorts to summoning a ghost who might tell her the location of the hidden jewels that are rumored to be stashed somewhere in her home.
How did you come up with the storyline?

The story started from a writing prompt challenge several years ago about setting a story in a graveyard. My scene began with the heroine and her brother traipsing into the graveyard to conduct a seance and the story grew after that.

What inspires you to write?

I have an inner drive to tell stories. I can’t explain it. It’s part of my DNA, I think! But, my children inspire me to publish those stories. I want to teach them to pursue their dreams and what better way to do that than by pursuing my own?

Tell us about your other books:

All of my books are in the romance genre. I require a happily-ever-after with the books I both read and write. Heat levels vary from sweet to steamy and I’ve written short stories, novellas and novels. The romances I write are primarily paranormal, but also I write romances that are historical, gothic, fantasy, and sci-fi.

Mesmerized by the Fae by Jenna Edon ~ A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve Author Spotlight Interview

Blurb:

But it’s not what you think.

I’ve seen what the power has done to my family and I don’t want to end up like them. So I’ve carved out my own path, separate from them and the old ways.

I answer to no one and live a mostly magic-free life. There is the occasional snafu that calls for it, but I like making my own way, and doing so without having to use my power makes my life easier.

Then two sexy but imposing fae—Mekhi and Gavin—come into my life and turn it upside down. I’ve somehow found myself in the possession of a mysterious bracelet that they want back. However, when it whispers to me, I know that it’s not a mistake that it came to me. If that doesn’t convince me enough, it’s spelled to me, meaning Mekhi and Gavin couldn’t take it even if they tried.

They’re stuck with me until they can figure out how to undo the magic that is binding it to me. Only they’re not the only ones after me.

A group of men seem dead set on taking me and I can only assume it has everything to do with the bracelet. But I have not come this far to let them stop me from uncovering the reason this bracelet has chosen me.

Mekhi and Gavin are less than pleased about the circumstances, but tough. They’ll have to play nice if they want to come out of this in one piece. And boy am I eager to play. I definitely have my hands full with both fae.

Excerpt:

It was dark now with the lights off, but I could still make out the outline of Keri as she crept out of the bathroom. She paused briefly at the twin bed beside me. Mekhi was asleep and sprawled across it. She stood over him, trying to figure out if there was enough room for her to lay with him.

After a moment of consideration, she moved towards my bed and nudged me on the shoulder. She thought I was asleep, but it didn’t stop her from waking me.

She tapped my arm again. “Gavin, are you awake?”

“I am now.”

“Oh, sorry.” She glanced around our small room. “Um, where am I supposed to sleep?”

“On the bed.”

“If you haven’t noticed, Mekhi is taking up an entire bed and, well,”—she gestured towards me—“you’re huge.”

“And?”

“And there’s not enough room for me and your muscles, so could you…” she tilted her head to the side, indicating the floor.

“You want me to sleep on the floor?”

“Well, yes.”

“Absolutely not.”

“You are quite the gentlemen, you know that?”

“I told you. There’s two beds.” I shifted so that my back was flushed with the wall on the other side of the twin bed. They were small beds, but I was able to make room for her this way.

She gawked at me, but I knew she was tired. “Do you really want to wake him up?” I asked.

She turned to look at him. There was such a look of contentment across his face. “No, he looks exhausted.”

“Good, then, you’re welcome to join me.” I patted the sparse space I’d made for her on the mattress.

She didn’t argue with me this time. She lied on her back, her body rigid as though she were afraid of our flesh touching.

I snaked an arm around her svelte waist and pulled her to me.

“What are you doing?”

“You’re taking up too much room and I can’t sleep with your sharp elbows cutting into me.”

She snorted, but stopped resisting too tired to argue with me. “Your wife must be patient.”

I smiled, looking down at her delicate features in profile. “I’m unwed.”

She gasped. “Shocker.”

“Are you probing for information about my private life?” She relaxed in my arms, my chin resting on the arch of her neck. “All you have to do is ask,” I said against her neck, my lips grazing her pulse.

“You wish,” she said, but the sharp intake of air told me she didn’t mind my proximity.

She snuggled against me, rubbing against my groin, and murmured no doubt feeling the full length of my hardened cock pressing against her soft ass.

“What do you do in the Fae Realm?” she asked, rousing me from my wayward thoughts.

If she was aware of my response to her, she didn’t let me know it. “I serve on the royal guard. Well, it’s not official yet. We’ve only recently completed our training.”

“Wow, the royal guard. That’s impressive. But why did they send you here? Don’t they have messengers for this?”

“No, this was too important to send someone in our place. It was our responsibility and our mistake to fix.”

“So if you return without it. You’ll be—”

“Punished.”

“Oh, I’m sorry,”—she caressed my forearm with her thumb—“I didn’t know.”

“How could you know?”

“No, I know…it’s just that I would give it back if I could.”

“Well, let’s not worry about that right now.”

“Why not?”

“Because I’m exhausted—you exhaust me. Do you ever sleep?”

“Fine.” She yawned and curled into the nook of my arm. “Goodnight.”

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Hello and welcome, readers! We have Jenna Edon here with us today. Jenna Edon, thanks for visiting us.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?

I have been writing since 2009, but I’ve always been an avid reader since I was nine. Over the years, my joy for reading evolved into a new interest and so I decided to dabble in writing.

Tell us about your title featured in: A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve

It’s about a mesmer (Keri) who finds the gift of the fae prince’s betrothed. It crosses over realms by itself and ends up in her possession which of course means the hot fae guards (Mekhi and Gavin) come after it and her. It’s a novelette but exciting and fun and sexy!

How did you come up with the storyline?

I love the idea of having a a mesmer as a FMC. I mean what’s not to like about a woman who can influence others just by touch? The possibilities are endless with a power like this so that is where I started to brainstorm. I also wanted to dive more into the fae world which resides in my Edonverse, so it felt right having the leading men portrayed by fae characters.

Our FMC, Keri, means well. She has this ability but she chooses not to use it often because using the ability seems like cheating. She’s well-intentioned and conscientious…but maybe a little bit of a control freak. And so Mekhi and Gavin come in, turning her world upside down a bit, and force her to relinquish some of that control she’s trying to hang onto.

What inspires you to write?

Readers and Books. I discovered my love of writing through reading books. So, I’m always reading.  And of course knowing how much the readers are enjoying my work is exciting and rewarding! As jobs go, this is definitely a fun one to have and I adore it!

Tell us about your other books:

I write paranormal romance and reverse harem. I have a vampire paranormal romance trilogy called The Hunted Series and a reverse harem academy romance series called the Dark Magic Series. All my series take place in my Edonverse which means the occasional crossover with some fan favorites!

All Hallows Academy by Majanka Verstraete ~ A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve Author Spotlight Interview

Blurb:

All Hallows Academy is one of the most prestigious universities in the world for witches and wizards and being accepted into All Hallows is an honor Lavinia Bloodbane and her best friend Jensen have been dreaming of for years.

The academic year at All Hallows starts with its most renowned tradition: Thirteen Days of Halloween. Each day of the thirteen days leading up to All Hallow’s Eve, a famous witch or wizard from the past is called upon and asked to reach through the veil separating the living from the death.

Lavinia wants nothing more than to fit in at All Hallows, but when something from beyond the veil reaches out to her on the First Day of Halloween, fitting in at the academy will be the least of her concerns…

Excerpt:

“This is going to be amazing!”

Jensen, my best friend, grabbed my hand and squeezed it. His smile spread from ear to ear and seeing it, I couldn’t help but smile myself.

Today was our first day at All Hallows Academy, one of the most renowned institutions for witchcraft and wizardry in the world.

Before enrolling at All Hallows, Jensen and I had attended high school together, and our number one dream for the past three years had been to get into All Hallows. We both worked hard to get here, and standing here today, it still didn’t feel real.

“I think you already grabbed some people’s attention,” I remarked, grinning as a group of girls walked past us, some of them throwing flirty glances in Jensen’s direction.

I knew my best friend was attractive, although I had never seen him that way—to me, he was the boy I had grown up with, who had gone to Miss Hecate’s Kindergarten for Magical Toddlers for the first time on the same day I did. I had accidentally made a doll come to life, courtesy of my lack of control over my powers, and Jensen had saved me by knocking the doll unconscious.

Miss Hecate was anything but pleased that one of her students had caused such havoc, but the incident had formed the foundation of my friendship with Jensen, and we had been best friends ever since.

Now we were here, roughly fifteen years later, and there was no one I would rather be here with, at All Hallows Academy.

“Yeah, right.” Jensen snorted sarcastically, referring back to my earlier comment that he had caught the eye of quite a few witches already.

Jensen had always been oblivious to his own good looks—a stark contrast with his brother, Flynn, and the one person I did not look forward to bumping into in the hallways.

Okay, that was a lie. Part of me was looking forward to it. The stupid part. The teenage-crush part.

During the summer holidays two years ago, while I spent most of my time hanging out with Jensen, I developed this enormous crush on his older brother Flynn and ended up making a fool of myself as I tried everything to get his attention. Flynn, on the other hand, practically ignored me and dated girl after girl until none of us could keep track anymore.

Chill, Liv. Don’t let him get into your head again. Flynn is old news.

At least that was what I told myself while I kept trying to catch a peek of him in the crowd, but so far, no luck.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Hello and welcome, readers! We have Majanka Verstraete here with us today. Majanka Verstraete, thanks for visiting us.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?

I have been writing books ever since I learned how to write, but my first official publication dates back to about ten years ago. It was called “Mirror, Mirror”, later renamed to “Fractured”, a young adult dark fantasy novel. In the meantime, the sequel to that, “Reflected”, has also been released.

Tell us about your title featured in: A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve

My story “All Hallows Academy” is an academy / reverse harem story told in different seasons. Season one focuses on the “Thirteen Days of Halloween”, a yearly event held at All Hallows Academy, in which a different witch or wizard from the past is honored each day during the thirteen days leading up to Halloween. The first episode of this season is featured in the box set.

How did you come up with the storyline?

I have been wanting to write in this format for a while, with different “seasons” and “episodes,” like you see on TV. I like the idea of a book episode following the format of a TV episode, with a nicely completed story while at the same time also having an overarching story arc. Since the box set is Halloween themed, and I’ve wanted to write another academy / reverse harem for a while, the rest of the inspiration came easily.

What inspires you to write?

Everything. It’s really hard to answer this one. Not a day goes by that I don’t have inspiration for one thing or another, and I really enjoy writing. It’s my favorite spare time activity and hardly ever feels like a chore.

Tell us about your other books:

I have written over forty books and counting, so there’s a lot to tell. Let me focus primarily on books in similar genres.

My “Academy for the Wicked” series will probably be of interest for readers who enjoyed “All Hallows Academy”. It’s a reverse harem academy series with all types of diabolical creatures: demons, vampires, warlocks, necromancers… It’s called “wicked” for a reason.

Then, in terms of young adult books, I have a whole lot of different series, so I’ll just sum up some of my books here. All of them can also be found on my website. I have indicated the ones that are not published yet, but that are available for pre-order.

The Soul Thief (Angel of Death Series #1) / YA Paranormal

Demonic Pact (Angel of Death Series #2) / YA Paranormal (available for pre-order)

See All Evil (Academy for the Wicked #1) / NA Reverse Harem Academy

Ghost Slayer / NA Paranormal Romance

Symphony of the Departed (Allegro Academy #1) / YA Paranormal Academy (available for pre-order)

A Study in Shifters (The Adventures of Marisol Holmes #1) / YA Paranormal Mystery / Romance

The Sign of the Serpent (The Adventures of Marisol Holmes #2) / YA Paranormal Mystery / Romance

The Wolf of the Baskervilles (The Adventures of Marisol Holmes #3) / YA Paranormal Mystery / Romance

The Conclave of Fear (The Adventures of Marisol Holmes #4) / YA Paranormal Mystery / Romance (available for pre-order)

Murder in Mind / YA Dystopian

Wicked Blood (Blood Witch #1) / YA Paranormal Romance

Fractured (Mirrorland #1) / YA Paranormal Mystery

Reflected (Mirrorland #2) / YA Paranormal Mystery

On Halloween night, she will have to face her past—as in a past life—in a big way. Only then can she return to what is left of her life, with or without this stranger who has captured her heart but cannot share her future

Excerpt:

Prologue

Shores of Pickering Wharf

Salem, MA

Week of Halloween

The hefty breeze pushed the small, blue, rolling waves into white, jagged peaks with the same urgency he felt inside as he sat gazing out upon the vastness of the water. Leaning against a weathered retaining wall with an audible sigh, Luca glanced behind him at the blue-gray haze over the small town cityscape silhouette. The pollution, a mixture of smoke and sky, presented itself as an omen of great significance to him. He knew the buildings, along with some of the houses beyond, already held within them the inhabitants he’d both come to protect and come to battle. In his five hundred years as a Watcher, the energy of the Earth had changed, negatively affecting the human condition.

He viewed their existence from his realm on a daily basis, a place just beyond this one, a small segment of space that served as a window to the world. From his perch there, each city had its own fundamental haze blurring its buildings and beings. This mystical force field, referred to as The River of Light, or simply The River by Watchers such as Luca, formed an energy grid covering the earth.

The grid could be seen as a matrix of light, sound, and colors forming geometric patterns around the planet. Humans had attempted to observe such patterns in the study of Sacred Geometry, but the immortal Watchers watched over and recorded the changing spiritual energies of history from their posts at The River. Ever shifting, the ebbs and flows of the negative and positive life energy swirled and moved over the varied landscapes of the Earth much like waterways. Therefore, it was critical for him to witness when certain changes emerged, what energy the events causing the changes added to the collective conscious of the world, and how the energy impacted the flow of The River. Recently, this city in the northeastern part of the United States had grown darker and darker until it choked under a bout of polluted smog-like energies. To give an ironic but truthful view of history, this was the first time Salem, Massachusetts had looked this bad. Even then, the frenzy of the only spiritual pollution inspired by the hunters during the witch hunts hadn’t darkened things to this extent. The residual energy that lingered here had been built upon since and currently required his intervention.

On Earth, back in true human form, a Watcher could see through this haze to the true souls of the people revealed to him in the colors of their auras. Both systems simply mirrored each other. Just as the human body had a meridian system with vital life force energy flowing through it, the world had a similar system of passageways through which the collective life force flowed. They not only mirrored each other, but affected each other, too. On the astral plane, the integral energy of human thoughts, words, and deeds combined into the mystical force field he kept watch over. Although he’d been sent to Earth many times before, a greater sense of foreboding gripped him this time. The places where the lines of the energy grid intersected and channeled to the earth had become blocked at alarming rates here these last few days, warning of impending danger. At portals such these, the energy proved stronger in its effects on the surrounding area.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Hello and welcome, readers! We have Kiki Howell here with us today. Kiki, thanks for visiting us.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I have been writing since I was young, in a way. From my earliest books, when I didn’t care for a part, or the ending, I re-wrote the book in my head when daydreaming, or trying to fall asleep at night. At some point I decided to simply try to write my own story. I wrote a lot in high school and college, but then I got married, became a mother, and all of that went to the wayside, outside of my love for reading, for a long time as I fulfilled another dream of being a stay at home mother. But all children grow up, and thus as they needed me less, I found my way back to writing.
What inspires you to write?
Oh, lots of things, but mostly I call it therapy. A lot comes out in my stories that I am struggling with in real life, heavily disguised in paranormal characters and story lines. I feel this form of creativity, along with many others in my life, are life lines I would not survive without.
Where can readers find you?

You can find out about my other stories at http://www.kikihowell.com
As far as social media goes, you can find me hanging out for the most part at
About the Author:
Ever since she was young, Kiki Howell has loved to listen to a well-woven tale with real characters, inspired plots, and delightful resolutions. Kiki could spend hours lost in a book, and soon she knew that creating lives, loves, and losses with just words had to be the greatest thing that she could do. To that end, she pursued her study of literature and writing, earning a bachelor’s degree in English. She then followed in a Master’s program in Creative Writing.
“After a long break having my boys, I finally just had to write again. And, as soon as I gave the stories the space, they entered it. It’s both awesome and humbling to find the words in my mind become characters on a page and create their lives.”
She has now had over fifty stories published between eleven different publishers.  She could not be more thrilled or grateful to see her creations polished and out in the real world. Please look around. Although, a bit of caution, most of her stories tend to hang out on the graphically sexy side of town.
In May, 2011, Kiki was chosen as an Ohioana Book Festival author for her novel, Torn Asunder. She’s also had three flash fiction stories win writing contests. Since the fall of 2013, she’s had three novels – Hidden Salem, Salem’s Revenge, and What Lies Within Us – hit Amazon Top 100 Bestsellers Lists in several categories like Paranormal, Suspense, Ghosts, Gothic Fiction, and Occult Horror. Most recently, the second in her Salem Series, Salem’s Revenge, hit the Top 10 on Amazon in Witch & Wizard Thrillers. In October of 2017, Kiki hit the USA Today Bestsellers List.

Bind My Body by Jayelle Morgan ~ A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve Author Spotlight Interview

Blurb:

I spit dirt out of my mouth and shamble home to my wife, only to find out I’ve been missing for six weeks. That’s impossible, but the last thing I remember is… Well, nothing.

My wife thinks I left her, but I love her more than life itself. Now it’s just a matter of convincing her of that as we piece together the missing time with the help of a friend.

The problem is, I’m starting to think I did something worse than just leave. That I am something worse than an unfaithful husband.

Turns out the most impossible thing to happen to me isn’t being murdered… It’s coming back.

Excerpt:

When I get home, the garage door is still up. Everything else looks normal and undisturbed. The front door is closed, and no shadows move behind the curtains.

I sit in the car, fighting off disappointment and fear. Maybe I am just crazy.

Maybe I’d been dreaming, sleep walking. I’d gone back to sleep quickly after the neighbor’s dog had quit barking, but then I’d awakened to sounds outside. Rustling, and the trashcan lid. There had been a feeling in the air, a weird pressure, but I’d ignored it, thinking raccoons had gotten into the trash. I’d turned on the light to chase them off when I’d heard the scraping at the door. Then I’d heard him say my name.

Shaking, I turn off the car and shut the garage door behind me. I won’t run again. This is my chance to see Grady, even if it is all in my head.

Breathing deep, I get out of the car and quietly enter the house. The lamp is still on in the living room, and I step toward the warm glow. As I round the corner, I see him, and stop. My knees weaken under me and I sink into a chair. “Oh my God.”

He’s lying on the couch, looking gray, dirty, and thin, and just as dead as he should be.

But then he opens his eyes and turns his head toward me. “I’m sorry I scared you. Can we talk?”

However he appeared, whatever he is, my dead husband is lying on our couch, talking to me.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Hello and welcome, readers! We have Jayelle Morgan here with us today. Jayelle, thanks for visiting us.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?

I’ve been writing seriously for about four years. It’s something I always wanted to do since reading romance novels when I was young. One day I decided to write a story that I had been thinking about before bed for many years. That was book 1 in my first series, Burn!

Tell us about your title featured in: A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve

My book is Bind My Body. It’s a spooky, emotional, fun intersection of Voodoo magic, zombies, and romance.

How did you come up with the storyline?

I was listening to a song, and this story just ‘showed up’, playing like a movie reel in my head. It was after a health scare with my husband, so between the song, my fears for him, and my love of PNR, this story was born.

What inspires you to write?

Emotions, mainly. I want to make people feel things when they read my stories.

Tell us about your other books:

My other books are all mainly in my Elemental Hearts series. It’s a series about HOT warriors with elemental powers, falling in love and saving the world!
